Off The Grid Productions, the Ottawa Valley Cooperative, Cindy Jamieson, owner of the Whitewater Inn in Beachburg, musicians from Deep River and Petawawa are joining with fine dining chef, Kasia Majszki in a project to raise funds to distribute local food in the Ottawa Valley region.

All profits go to the OVFC to distribute local food.

THE OTTAWA VALLEY FOOD COOPERATIVE (OVFC)

The Ottawa Valley Food Cooperative is a non-profit organization that provides an internet-based ordering system to facilitate the buying and selling of local food and products.

The OVFC was incorporated as a not-for-profit co-operative under the Ontario Co-operative corporations act on December 19th, 2007.

The OVFC supports local food, seasonal eating, farmers’ markets, farm gate sales, food literacy and food events. It recognizes the value of relationships that connect consumers and producers in building resilient, local food systems. Activities of OVFC are guided by core values of healthy communities, environmental stewardship, social justice and vibrant local economies.

STRINGS & IVORY

Kirsten Waymann (violin)

Kirston Waymann is a professional musician and received her music degree from the University of Ottawa. She was a member of the string ensemble of the Canadian Armed Forces prior to pursuing a career as a symphony musician. She has played with Symphony of Nova Scotia, as well as the Windsor and Niagara Symphonies. While freelancing in Toronto, she played with the musicals “Phantom of the Opera” and “Showboat”. Kirsten has also enjoyed playing in shows featuring performers such as Il Divo, Josh Groban, the Irish Tenors and Leahy. Kirsten presently plays with the Deep River and Pembroke Symphony Orchestras, and has appeared as a guest soloist with both. She plays with a number of small orchestral ensembles in the Ottawa Valley and teaches violin in Petawawa.

Peter Boczar (keyboard)

Peter Boczar is an amateur pianist who has returned to his passion for music after a 40-year hiatus. He was an accomplished pianist and organist as a teenager. He pursued a career in science, and worked for 32 years as a physicist, manager, and director with Atomic Energy Ltd. at Chalk River, Ontario. After retiring, he resumed his former passion for piano playing, and expanded his repertoire beyond classical music. He makes lots of people happy every week, playing keyboard and volunteering at a dozen care facilities in the Pembroke area. He has been a guest keyboard player with the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra, and was the keyboard. player with the local jazz band, TheSoulstice5+.

CHEF KASIA MAJSZKI

In 2014 Kasia moved to a metropolitan city to the Ottawa Valley. The passion for food, her formal Fine Arts training and her Polish heritage (“her Super-power”) gave birth to Kasia’s Gourmet Kitchen

Kasia uses traditional cuisine, locally sourced produce and gives it a modern and artistic twist. 

Kasia believes that a day without learning is a day wasted. Thus, she is constantly training at the Culinary Arts. Her cooking is dictated by the rhythm of the Seasons. The food she prepares is an expression of gratitude to her parents and grandparents. In the kitchen she is reliving the wisdom of her ancestors.

Kasia serves her community with gourmet dinners on Tuesdays, MOW, Catering, Private dining and Teaches cooking skills on weekends.

Kasia’s Gourmet Kitchen is growing at a rapid pace, constantly evolving and seeking new and exciting opportunities.
